What inspired you to start practicing yoga?

My friend took me to my first yoga class because she thought I needed it. I had no idea it was so difficult and life changing!

What inspired you to start teaching yoga?

I have always enjoyed teaching and helping people, that’s why I got involved in sports medicine. Yoga is different though. People come to yoga classes because they want to help themselves. I am just the facilitator.

How do you incorporate yoga off the mat?

My life is yoga off the mat! I love the mind/soul part of yoga. I am using breathing techniques frequently in day to day life. If I start to get anxious, nervous or borderline upset I try to remove myself from the situation to be the observer, it allows me more compassion towards whatever is making me feel uneasy.

Do you have a favorite famous or non-famous yogi?

I love Meghan Currie, Kathryn Budig, Shiva Rae, Carson Clay Calhoun and Rachel Brathen

What are your hobbies outside of yoga?

I am a mermaid at heart! I love anything with the water whether it’s a beach day, paddle boarding, boating, etc. I like to stay active and I especially like to explore and travel!

What are your other jobs (if any) outside of teaching yoga?

I am the athletic trainer at Waccamaw High School full time. I also personal train a few clients privately.

Other than yoga, what do you do to decompress?

I love having a cup of tea and taking some me time out of my hectic schedule. It’s usually before I go to bed but on the weekends if I can sneak 30 minutes in a sun spot on my living room floor with a book and a cup of tea I feel recharged! Music is another way I decompress.

What is your favorite food/snack/treat?

Lately I have been on a peanut butter kick. Any kind of fruit with peanut butter and coconut flakes is a good dessert or breakfast. I am also a big time Frito lover.

What is your favorite TV Show or Movie?

Fool’s Gold, Weekend at Bernies, Men in Black, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – I love a good comedy and chick flicks!

What do you love MOST about teaching yoga?

The change. I love watching people change subconsciously. Most people don’t even realize it’s happening until it’s “too late” but I can pick out subtleties and think “ah ha! It’s working!” Many people have a specific reason to come to the mat but after they reach that goal or think that they have, they acquire all these other positive side effects and then they become hooked.
