This coming Monday, June 20th, Island Wave Yoga is hosting a Summer Solstice/Full Moon Beach Yoga Practice on the South End of Pawleys Island! (Check out the Facebook Event HERE!) We’re taking time to appreciate Mother Nature, the Summer Season and our beautiful community! We thought this would be the perfect time to dig a little deeper into the meaning and effects of the Summer Solstice and the Full Moon!

‘Solstice’ (Latin: ‘solstitium’) means ‘sun-stopping’. The point on the horizon where the sun appears to rise and set, stops and reverses direction after this day. On the solstice, the sun does not rise precisely in the east, but rises to the north of east and sets to the north of west, meaning it’s visible in the sky for a longer period of time. (Source)

From a more spiritual perspective, the Summer Solstice is a time to celebrate the light of consciousness within ourselves and within each and every person, and to reflect upon the potential for conscious awakening. (Source)

The full moon is a time of positive opportunity if you use it correctly.  It can increase your positive energy or conversely, it can wreak havoc on your emotions.
Since the full moon pours down a tremendous amount of energy, you must be in a calm state of mind to receive a positive effect. Remember that whatever is going on in your body, mind and spirit will be amplified. (Source)

We hope to see you on Monday, June 20th 8:30PM on Pawleys Island!
